What is Custom Software as a Service?
Know the details.
Custom Software as a Service is a relatively new concept. While the field of custom software has been around for around 50 to 60 years, Custom Software as a Service (CSaas) has come into its own in just the past few years.

CSaas makes it easy for businesses to have the custom software they need, while spending little or no cash up front. Depending on the vendor used, CSaaS applications can be delivered much more quickly and with lower risk.

The vendor providing the CSaaS service delivers the custom software as a turnkey solution, typically in exchange for a term contract and monthly payments. The vendor takes responsibility for all the infrastructure, freeing the customer up to concentrate on other things.

A common question is whether there are any limits to the degree of customization possible. The answer is "no." Custom Software as a service can be completely customized to meet the needs of the customer.

One big difference for custom software as a service, is that the customer does not own the software or receive a copy of the source code at the end of the project. In this way, CSaas is like an automobile lease. At the end of the lease, there is no obligation on the part of the customer or the vendor to continue to do business. While the customer does not own the software, the data in the application is almost always the property of the customer.
